Paper quilled flower bouquet for christmas

I love flowers a lot!! When I started quilling I had spend lot of time in making different kind of flowers. This time I tried to make a flower bouquet using simple fringed flowers and simple quilled eye shape.

Bouquet using fringed flowers

Steps to make quilled flower bouquet

I made ten small fringed flowers using whatever color strips are available there in my box except green. Green strips are used for leaves and leaf petals. Long and small eye shapes are used for making leaves and one or two loosely coiled green strips as petals to make it more beautiful.

To make a real bouquet look, a basket is made using eye shapes in brown color.

How to make flower basket

To make flower basket I have used 17 brown eye shapes. Arrange the eye shapes like one in the bottom layer, two on second layer, three on third and so on until we get a basket size of our wish. On top of the basket arrange the flowers like a heap and fix the leaves and petals in sides and gaps.

Paper quilled turtle

Once we learn  basic 3 d quilling shapes, we can easily make any objects like animals, dolls, mug, basket etc etc. I made this turtle for my daughter when there was a small exhibition in her school. To make this more cute and catch the attention of everyone, I glued a fringed flower to its mouth. My doughter loved it very much and still she keeps this in her study table.

To make the turtle we mainly need two semi spheres. One for head and one for its body. To make it more colorful and cute we can use different color strip as we wish. To make the legs, a modified teardrop is enough. Eyes I had bought from itsybitsy.

Paper crafted necklace using magazine page

We will be having a lot of old magazines and papers in our home which we normally dump at the end of year or sell it to some local shops. If we are a bit patient, some spare time to spend and interested in crafts, we can make use of old magazines and papers to create beautiful ornaments, home decorative items and a lot of stuffs of your imagination.

After all a very good paper recycling idea, a wonderful hobby and even some people are making good income out of it.

This time I have decided to make a necklace for my daughter using an old edition of Filmfair as a Christmas Gift. Thankfully all these magazines like Fimlfair, Femina, maxim, Traveller etc will be having lots of colorful advertisement pages from which we can select our choice of page matching the color of our dress or other ornaments.

After selecting the page, cut it into strips according to the size and shape of the beads we are planning to make. Roll it using a tooth pick and make as many number of beads. Apply fabric glue and keep 2-3 minutes for drying. We may add some nail polish to get some glaze.

Quilled Jewellery - Jhumkas and Earrings

Here are some of my quilled ear ring collections that I have attempted during last week. Inspired by some blogs and other designs available in the web, I tried to design some jeweleries that will suite my tastes.

I like wearing jhumkas a lot and tried to concentrate more on those. Since I did not have a moulder to shape the paper strips I had to depend on my round shaped kitchen spoon and my kid's toys.

Anyone interested in buying  jhumkas of any type, please drop a mail to sukanyajoshi86@gmail.com or call me at 9740405000

Quilled Teddy Bears

This is one of my framed quilling work which sold in my first exhibition. To be frank this is not the work of my imagination. Somewhere in net I when I searched for quilled teddy bears,  I have seen one like this and next day I quilled a similar one.

How to make quilled teddy bears?

It is pretty simple to make quilled teddy bears. Roll the strips to two tight coils of proportional sizes, one for body and one for head. Stick together and one main work is over. Now make legs and hands by making small tight coils and shape it using our hands only. A good color combination will make it look lovely and attractive.
